Case study: Mid Pennine Arts
The Foundation was pleased to make a grant following an application from Mid Pennine Arts to support Phase II of their project ‘Panopticons’, a unique and ambitious creative project which set out to erect a series of 21st -century landmarks across East Lancashire as symbols of thei renaissance of the area.
"Mid Pennine Arts and partners are indebted to The Granada Foundation for its invaluable support of the Panopticon project. The grant contributed specifically towards the building and installation of Burnley's Singing Ringing Tree by Tonkin Liu, which achieved major recognition in June by being named winner of a National Award for architectural excellence by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). SRT is now attracting thousands of new visitors to Pennine Lancashire.”
